The spark stand serves as the central testing chamber for metal analysis, securing the sample with a clamp to establish the necessary electrical contact. It houses the electrode that generates the high-voltage spark or plasma to excite the sample. To ensure accurate measurements, it maintains a strictly controlled argon atmosphere and requires the sample to completely cover its opening to keep out ambient oxygen and moisture. As the sample evaporates, the stand directs the emitted light through specific optical channels and quartz windows to the instrument's sensors while simultaneously extracting harmful UV radiation and toxic or flammable metal condensates into an exhaust filter system.
